On Tuesday, we woke up, had breakfast and at 9am, were on our way to the famous Nasca Lines. Our guide Freddy was awesome, friendly, spoke good English and was very proud of being a travel guide.
The flight was crazy - we were in a small plane, it only sat 6 people, including the pilot. The lines were incredible, we took a ton of photos. Below are a few of the snapshots. Afterward everyone felt sick from the bumpy ride. Jared and Anika recovered quickly, Jon and I felt horrible.

CHAUCHILLLA CEMETERY
Next was the Chauchilla Cemetery, which is about 20 miles south of Nasca. This was a cemetery for the Nasca people for centuries until grave-robbing huaqueroes showed up. Today it is protected and you can tour the cemetery. You can also see shards of bones and pottery throughout the desert sand. It was very hot. Freddy was awesome, answering all of our questions and really giving us a great history of the Nasca people.

BACK IN NASCA
We rested the remainder of the day and at 7pm, went to a show at the Maria Reiche Planetarium, which explains the theories behind the Nasca Lines. Great show. We also learned about constellations too. At 11pm, boarded our night bus to Arequipa.
NIGHT BUS TO AREQUIPA
Another horrible bus ride. We had a first class 'sleeper' bus, but the rows of seats were so close together that my long legs didn’t fit. My knees were so sore - I had to either spread my legs out or push them completely to one side. Poor Jared, I was squirming the entire night.

And, like our other bus ride, a lot of people on the bus seemed to have colds. It was a quiet ride with the exception of coughing, sniffling and blowing noses.
We all took half a dose of Ambien, the sleeping pill, and it was okay... I definitely woke up a lot, but that is mostly due to a very bumpy bus ride.
